At 92,000 square feet, the Grainger Engineering Library space is the largest engineering library in the country. The University of Illinois System boasts the largest public library system in the US, with more than 14 million volumes.

The Grainger Engineering Library is home to CARE – Center for Academic Resources in Engineering, a walk-in tutoring service for all engineering students. On the fourth floor, you will find engineering workstations allowing students access to all possible engineering student platforms available.

On the south side of Grainger Library, you’ll find the statue affectionately known as Grainger Bob. On campus since 1996, the title of Seward Johnson’s work is “Computing a Future.” Grainger Bob is the second most photographed statue on campus (the most photographed is Alma Mater), has his own Twitter/X account and is reading the book Computing the Future. He has a twin who lives at the Schaumburg Township District Library.
