Student Introduction to Engineering 

Student Introduction to Engineering (SITE)  is a two-day, overnight, interactive and informational program offered to high school seniors. Invitations are distributed to admitted applicants of engineering majors. This is a unique opportunity to explore and experience life as an engineering student here in Urbana Champaign. We promise no sugarcoating and no sales pitch. From day one, we show you everything Illinois has to offer to your education, social circles, and personal growth. Illinois Host Program 2023 for Chemical Engineers

The Illinois Host Program provides you and your parent/guardians with a number of opportunities to learn more about our exciting program and meet current and future Chemical Engineering students. This two day program is sponsored by the Department of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering (ChBE) and organized by the current students of the American Institute of Chemical Engineers University of Illinois Student Chapter (Illinois AIChE). Illinois AIChE is a registered student organization that promotes the professional and personal development of chemical engineering undergraduate students. While you are here, you will attend lectures, learn how you can be involved in Illinois AIChE, tour academic and research labs, meet department faculty, network with current and admitted students, go on tours of campus and more. We know it might be hard for parents to take off work on Friday, so we still encourage you to think about joining us for part of Friday or just Saturday. Please note that Illinois AIChE will not be providing any meals, transportation, nor housing on Friday night. Society of Women in Engineering "Little Sisters Weekend" 

Little Sisters' Weekend (LSW) is an overnight campus visit program for admitted high school girls in engineering. "Little Sisters" will be paired up with current undergraduate girls in engineering ("Big Sisters"), and they'll get the opportunity to have a first-hand experience of student life on campus. This is a free university and corporate sponsored event. Meals will be provided and little sisters will sleepover in an hotel. Activities include campus tours, talk with a representative of Caterpillar, meet other organizations on campus, and meet SWEsters! (Society of Women in Engineering (SWE) members).

Engineering Open House (EOH)

As winter draws to a close, engineering students at the University Illinois at Urbana Champaign set aside a weekend to show off what they have been working on all year long. Students from every discipline of engineering set up exhibits to remind the general public of the role that science plays in everyday life and to show the difference that technology will make in the future. Sponsoring awards and competitions, corporations that push the boundaries of science today also make an appearance. Primary and secondary schools also bring young students in hopes of passing the spirit of engineering to the next generation. When our young innovators meet the experienced engineers they strive to become and the children following in their footsteps, Engineering Open House begins.

National Society of Black Engineers Admitted Student High School Visitation

The High School Visitation (HSV) event hosted by the National Society of Black Engineers this spring is put on to introduce admitted high school seniors to UIUC. During HSV, admitted engineering students will participate in activities that will allow them to explore campus and meet their peers and faculty. Students who are still making their choice of college will learn all about UIUC and be able to make a more informed decision, and students who are already set on attending UIUC will start acclimating to campus life.

Note: This event is for admitted students only, no guest allowed to maximum capacity for students. Hotel accommodation, meals, and transportation to and from Chicago (only) will be provided to registrants.

Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers Admitted Student High School Visitation

The UIUC Chapter of the Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers (SHPE) is hosting our annual Spring High School Visitation (HSV) event for Hispanic and Latinx admitted students! What is SHPE HSV you ask? It will be a weekend for admitted students to spend time overnight on campus and get to learn more about SHPE, UIUC, and what being a college student is like! The weekend will include informational sessions, tours, workshops, community building activities, and meet & greets with various campus organization and staff.

Note: This event is for admitted students only, no guest allowed to maximum capacity for students. Hotel accommodation, meals, and transportation to and from Chicago (only) will be provided to registrants.

Come see what a "Day in the Life" of a Grainger Engineering student in your admitted major is like.  Spend time one-on-one with a current student to experience an authentic, first-hand experience of what it's like to be a Grainger Engineering student. You'll sit in on a class, learn about your major and college, eat lunch on campus with your host, and of course ask questions.  Your guest(s) are encouraged to enjoy exploring campus, our local eats, or the Champaign Urbana community during your one-on-one Shadow Experience.

Illini Day (Admitted Student)

These large, day-long events begin with a campus resources fair, followed by a presentation on the UIUC experience and your next steps as an admitted student. You'll then have the chance to ask current students your most pressing questions Q&A-style as well as attend a session hosted by the academic community you were admitted into. The availability of our academic communities varies by event, so make sure to review the list of those attending when you sign up. Following a break for lunch, you can choose to take part in a variety of optional activities, including numerous campus and building tours as well as walk-in times with campus resources like Housing and Financial Aid.

Admitted Info Session & Campus Tour (Admitted Student)

Held most weekdays and select Saturdays, these events are around two-and-a-half hours in length. You'll begin your day with a 45-minute presentation on the UIUC experience and your next steps as an admitted student, followed by a 15-minute Q&A session with current students. A student will then lead you on an hour-and-a-half walking tour through the heart of campus.
