The Grainger College of Engineering Prospective Student College Meeting & Engineering Tour 

Join us for a Grainger Engineering Prospective Student College Meeting & Tour. You’ll receive a 30-minute informational presentation about The Grainger College of Engineering, our majors and tips to prepare yourself to apply. The presentation is followed by a 90-minute walking tour led by a current engineering student tour guide across our two engineering quads to see and learn about our buildings, classrooms and lab spaces.

A 30-minute informal session with a Grainger Engineering academic advisor or assistant dean to answer your lingering questions about our college, majors, the curriculum, college resources, or student opportunities. 

We highly recommend you register for The Grainger Engineering Prospective Student College Meeting & Engineering Tour for a comprehensive overview of our majors, application tips for applying to engineering majors, and a tour of our facilities across our two engineering quads.

Explore Grainger Engineering

Explore the Grainger College of Engineering! This full day immersive program will introduce you to all of our majors, academic advisors, current student, resources offices, and student organizations.  You'll start your day networking with college reps and students eager to answer your questions.  Midday you'll have the opportunity to select breakout sessions of your choosing for a comprehensive overview of specific majors. Then you'll wrap up your day taking our engineering walking tour.  This is an event that you do not want to miss; in additional to the abundance of information you can gather there will be lunch provided, free merch., and raffles.  Formal programming begins at 10:00am.  You are welcome to arrive at 9:00am for our pre-event Tour and Info Fair. This event is for prospective students & guest that look to apply to Illinois for Fall 2024 entry or beyond.

Worldwide Youth in Science & Engineering (WYSE) Summer Camps

During June 2023 and July 2023, WYSE offers multiple Engineering Summer Camps hosted at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Camps are available for middle and high school aged students (rising 7th – 12th grade) and are available for all genders. Visit the FAQs about summer camps for more details.

Worldwide Youth in Science & Engineering (WYSE) High School Summer Research

Rising high school juniors and seniors (current 10th-11th grade) are invited to participate in an authentic STEMM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics, and Medicine) research experience at a world-class research university for six weeks during the summer.

Grainger  Engineering College Overview & Virtual Tour: Prospective Students 

Join The Grainger College of Engineering tour guides for an overview of the college and live tour from the comfort of your home on ZOOM. You'll visit our two engineering quads and have the opportunity to see inside of our buildings and lab spaces.  You won't want to miss this session, its as close to the in person experience as you can get. Between buildings you'll have the opportunity to ask questions and learn about our college and academic programs.

Empowering Students in Engineering (ESIE)

Empowering Students in Engineering, ESIE, is an outreach event hosted by the student organization Society of Women Engineers (SWE). SWE invites all high school seniors to come and experience what engineering is like at UIUC while also touring campus and chatting with current students. There will be a carnival themed major panel, student organization panel, and design activities.

Lunch provided! A parent or guardian to accompany student to the event is required.

Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers (SHPE) Fall High School Visitation (HSV)

SHPE UIUC is excited to announce the return of Fall HSV! What is HSV you might ask? HSV is an opportunity for prospective Latinx and Hispanic juniors and seniors to become familiar with campus and get an introduction to STEM and the Grainger College of Engineering at UIUC. During your time on campus, there will be informational sessions, tours, workshops, community-building activities, and meet & greets with various campus organizations and staff.

This year we will be hosting two, one-day HSV sessions on Saturday, October 22nd and Sunday, October 23rd. They will be identical, so you can choose whichever day works best for you. We ask that you find your own transportation to and from campus, but if that is not possible, please let us know and we can provide accommodations.  Thank you for your interest and we are excited to meet you all on campus!

*Please note, priority will be given to high school Juniors & Seniors if capacity is reached for this event. Secondly, this 1 day event is geared towards HIGH SCHOOL STUDENT'S ONLY, parents/guardian should plan to drop-off & pick-up student at designated times on-campus or at Union Station.*
