10. Beckman Institute for Advanced Science and Technology
Named for Grainger Engineering alumnus Arnold Beckman (1900-2004), a chemical engineer, famed inventor of notable scientific equipment and philanthropist, this building houses researchers from every college on campus. Beckman dreamed of enhancing collaboration by establishing collaborative, interdisciplinary research spaces. The Urbana campus is home to one of five Beckman Institutes in the United States.
