Standing on the former site of clay tennis courts, the Campus Instructional Facility (CIF) showcases the teaching excellence offered at the University of Illinois. Structural elements of building reflect its location on the engineering campus. The 124,000 square foot facility has 23 general assignment rooms in its five floors.

Interactive “gather” classrooms encourage group interaction, and the lower level houses a state-of-the-art auditorium. A two-story study space also serves as special event space and viewings on its large screen.

The chief engineer for the building was William Baker (MS '80 CEE) of Skidmore, Owings, and Merrill. Baker was also the chief engineer for the world's tallest building, the Burj Khalifa in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.

Of Interest Inside

Walk inside, grab a cup of coffee and enjoy  the “Block I” portraits of famous alumni from all colleges of the university lining the walls of the first floor.
