Q What did you learn as a woman in engineering that has helped you in and out of your professional role?
I have learned that being my genuine self is the best way to connect with students, professionals, and colleagues.
Q Do you think the landscape of women in STEM fields has changed? How so? Where do you see it going in the future?
I think the landscape of women in STEM fields is changing over time, but slowly. We have to be persistent, poised, and powerful to keep change going.
Q Who inspires you as a woman in engineering?
My Ph.D. advisor, Dr. Michael Webber, is a fierce champion of women in engineering. He inspired me to set my goals high, higher than I thought was achievable, and to work to make them happen.
Q What advice do you have for women in who are starting their journey in engineering?
Great things happen when women support each other.
