The College's student-run Engineering Council has teamed with enterprise mobile firm, Lextech Global Services, to design and develop native iPhone and Android applications for the 92nd annual Engineering Open House (EOH) to be held March 9th & 10th on the engineering campus.
“We were really excited to tap into Lextech’s enterprise experience to design and deliver native mobile apps this year. The student exhibitors work really hard to put together strong presentations, and these apps let us showcase their work to the world,” said EOH Director Stanley Chang.
Both the Android and iPhone mobile applications, developed by Lextech’s professional team and interns from the University of Illinois, will engage on-site attendees with an exhibit QR code scanner, live video feeds, campus and building maps, and an exhibit rating system that will help determine the EOH “People’s Choice” winner. Remote alumni and engineering enthusiasts can use the apps to watch live video feeds of competitions and learn more about each exhibit.
“As a University of Illinois College of Engineering alum, I wanted to share the awesomeness that is EOH with other alumni who can’t make it back to campus,” said Lextech CEO & Chief Geek, Alex Bratton. “These apps put live streaming video and exhibit details in the hands of those who can’t there.”
