As Trump wavers on Yucca Mountain, nuclear waste, costs mount

Wisconsin State Journal (Oct. 28) -- Nuclear waste storage costs are climbing while the project to turn Yucca Mountain northwest of Las Vegas into a national storage area remains stalled. “Yucca Mountain is a perfectly good place to put it for hundreds of years,” says Clifford Singer, a professor emeritus of nuclear, plasma and radiation engineering at Illinois. The problem is that the waste will need to be stored for millions of years.
