Chicago Tribune (Sept. 20) -- n the search for the next wave of tech talent, Chicago companies, from small startups to big banks, are competing with Silicon Valley giants like Google and Facebook. Universities are inundated with requests from companies looking to hold on-campus events and are left to help students sort through their myriad options. U. of I.’s computer science department hosted about 50 corporate events in the 2012-13 school year, says Cynthia J. Coleman, the department’s associate director of external relations. That number was up to nearly 75 last year.
