"But if you lose two or three or more, there's no guarantee," he suggests. William Sanders, head of Illinois University's electrical and computer engineering department, who co-authored a recent report by the prestigious US National Academies of Science, Engineering and Medicine about attacks on the grid, thinks "it would take a significant outage" of wind farms to cause wider disruption.
