The Verge (New York, April 5) – A Kirkland, Washington, startup called Zunum Aero plans to build a fleet of hybrid electric jets to sell to major carriers for service on densely traveled regional routes. The company’s co-founders include Kiruba Haran, a professor of electrical and computer engineering at Illinois who leads a NASA-funded program to develop electric airliners.
