News-Gazette (Feb. 10) -- A new industry-supported center at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign plans to image molecules, live cells and tissues in the body before, during, and after drug treatment in order to understand the efficacy of the drugs and the response of the body to treatments. The GSK Center for Optical Molecular Imaging is a partnership between the British pharmaceutical giant GlaxoSmithKline and the Biophotonics Imaging Laboratory at the Beckman Institute for Advanced Science and Technology.
