Scott Fisher's productive career took him to leading technology companies and saw him move from research and development to application architecture and development; to the business application of computing and, eventually, to IT.

Fisher joined Digital Equipment Corporation, where he contributed to the VAX/VMS operating system, the PDP-11 minicomputer and the DECsystem line of systems.

His career has covered executive leadership, program management, engineering and large systems experience in manufacturing, high-tech and healthcare environments. He has been recognized for his high-quality people skills and the ability to understand and communicate the business of technology. Most recently, Fisher worked at Ecolab, a global leader in water, hygiene and energy technologies and services. He managed one of the company's IT groups, supporting its Institutional sales division from 2008 to 2016. His team developed software to collect data from industrial controllers and managed chemistry and regulatory data.

Earlier in his career, Fisher held leadership positions at Laser Magnetic Storage International (Philips NV), where he managed implementation of integrated manufacturing and logistics systems in the U.S. and Europe, and at Remmele Engineering, where he directed IT strategy, operations and project delivery across four plants.

Fisher has also given back through his membership in professional organizations including the Association for Computing Machinery, the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers and the Project Management Institute.  He currently mentors students at several universities and companies, has served on the board of several nonprofit organizations, and presented at two universities. At Illinois, he volunteers through the Siebel School of Computer and Data Science, IlliniLink and the Illinois Leadership Center.
