 Henry S. Magnuski was co-founder of GammaLink and the inventor of PC-to-fax technology. He designed and developed the industry’s first PC/fax board and software package that came to market in 1985. In 1994, GammaLink merged with Dialogic Corporation, a leading manufacturer of voice cards for the PC. The combined companies exceeded $100 million, and were purchased by Intel in 1999.

In 1995, Magnuski was founder and CEO of Internet Video Services, Inc. (IVS), one of the first to provide video services over the Internet. As a part of IVS, he also created MediaMart, one of the first electronic commerce sites. Currently with NCast Corporation, he is involved in developing and marketing high-resolution video systems for telepresentation and web conferencing over the Internet.

Prior to founding GammaLink and IVS, Magnuski was active in the Telecommunications Industry Association’s subcommittee on facsimile standards, and in the late 1960s and early 1970s, supervised the use of computer systems in human factors research and psychophysical experiments at Bell Laboratories.

In honor of his father, Magnuski and his wife, Cynthia Jose, established the Henry Magnuski Scholar Fund for Outstanding Young Faculty Members, which has now become the Henry Magnuski Endowed Professorship within the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering.
