To John Harold Bryant, who has combined outstanding ability in research and development with a strong entrepreneurial spirit, and for his accomplishments in the management of research and development resulting in truly effective innovations in the microwave equipment field.

Before Dr. Bryant began his graduate studies at Illinois, he held a BS in electrical engineering from Texas A&M University and had served four years as an officer in the U.S. Signal Corps. After six years with the federal laboratories of the International Telephone and Telegraph Company, he joined the Bendix Corporation, Research Laboratories Division, in 1955. In 1962 he became president and co-founder of Omni Spectra, Inc.

Under his leadership, Omni Spectra has become the dominant developer and supplier of miniature coaxial connectors in the microwave electronics industry. Omni Spectra connectors and components have been used on all major U.S. space and moon-landing projects.

Over the years Dr. Bryant has been active in the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers, holding national committee posts, serving as chairman of the professional group on microwave theory and technology and as head of the Southeast Michigan section. He was named a fellow of the IEEE in 1968.
