Allison Lau is a senior pursuing a dual degree in Materials Science and Engineering (MatSE) and Chemistry.

Allison is in her fifth semester as the Engineering Student Admissions Representative (ESTAR) Director, helping to coordinate engineering campus tours for thousands of visitors each year. In addition, she supports prospective and current students as a recruiter for the MatSE department and a teaching assistant for the Materials Laboratory (MSE307 & MSE308) courses.

Last fall, she taught Engineering Orientation (ENG100) as a MatSE Engineering Learning Assistant. In previous years, she was involved in the Society of Women Engineers as the Membership Enrichment Director. Finally, she helped to organize the annual Women in Engineering New Student Orientation as a Programs Assistant.

Allison is currently conducting polymer physics research in Professor Charles Schroeder's Lab through the Illinois Scholars Undergraduate Research (ISUR) program. She has also researched wearable strain sensors in Professor Ying Diao's Lab.

Allison is deeply grateful to her family, friends, mentors, and classmates who have positively shaped her time as a Grainger Engineering student.
