Donald A.Gall has achieved outstanding accomplishments in diverse industries such as automotive, aerospace, medicine, networking, and computer database design. He is the founding president and chief executive officer of Omega Legal Systems, which developed a pioneering, integrated,Windows-based time, billing, and practice management suite of products for law firms. While working on his advanced degrees at MIT, Gall worked as a research engineer with General Motors and as a staff engineer and manager of control systems for Dynatech Corporation. After completing his doctorate, he joined the faculty of Carnegie Mellon University. He later became a research associate professor of surgery and anesthesiology at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine. In 1973, Gall became director of biomedical engineering at the Arizona Heart Institute. He founded Omega Computer Systems in 1974.
In addition to his professional accomplishments with Omega Legal, Gall holds a U.S. patent on an invention related to fuel injection systems. In 1969, he was honored by the International Conference on Production Research for his work on the optimal control of manufacturing processes, becoming the first U.S. citizen to receive that organization’s F.W.Taylor Research Medal.
He was a member of the Alumni Board of the Department of Mechanical and Industrial Engineering (now the Department of Mechanical Science and Engineering) from 2002 to 2005, and he continues to attend board meetings as a senior board member.
