David Yeh was a 32 year employee of Texas Instruments and spent the last 17 of those years assigned to the Semiconductor Research Corporation (SRC), a global not-for-profit consortium of technology companies. At the time of his retirement in 2021, he served as senior director in the Global Research Collaboration where he funded and supported university research programs around the world that advanced the design, architecture and manufacturability of integrated circuits for digital, analog, mixed-signal and RF applications. In total, he participated in more than 30 research solicitations, including several that were jointly funded by the National Science Foundation. These solicitations led to the funding of well over a thousand research projects, made real-world problems available to university faculty and students, and delivered thousands of usable research results to member companies. Yeh was instrumental in launching SRC’s India Research Program enabling research results for member companies from top universities in India.
While at Texas Instruments, Yeh also made significant contributions to the planning, development, support and enhancement of TISpice3, an internal circuit simulation tool with “best-in-class” features and performance that was in use for more than 20 years.
From 2000 through 2004, Yeh was Texas Instrument’s representative to the Semiconductor Research Corporation’s Computer Aided Design and Test Sciences (CADTS) area, serving as the chair of the CADTS’ science area coordinating committee in 2002 and 2003.
He is a senior member of IEEE and served on the executive committee of the IEE Council on Electronic Design Automation from 2011 to 2013 and as IEE Design and Test magazine’s Roundtable editor from 2009 to 2017. In academia, David served on the Illinois Grainger Engineering Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering Alumni Board from 2007 to 2014. In 2017, he received the Distinguished Alumni Award from the same department. He also served on the University of Texas at Dallas Electrical and Computer Engineering Department’s Industry Advisory Committee from 2016 to 2020.
Yeh and his wife Michelle, an Illinois alumnae, live in North Carolina and are proud parents of four wonderful children who also pursued engineering careers.
