Cornell Horne, Jr.

Cornell is a 5th-year senior (ARISE Scholar) studying Electrical Engineering, with a focus on Semiconductor Technology. Cornell currently is a co-leader of Men’s Fellowship/ Bible Study within his RSO Acts Campus Ministries where he also serves as the head of the Hospitality Ministry. He is a member of the National Society of Black Engineers (NSBE), as well as a Morrill Engineering Program (MEP) mentor. In the past, Cornell has been chosen as one of the Homecoming Courts of 2023 which represent academic excellence paired with great community involvement. He has been a Center for Academic Resources in Engineering (CARE) tutor in the Grainger Library, a member of NSBE’s Tech Team, a member of iRobotics RSO, and finally, a member of Amateur Artists RSO where he enjoyed doing art among his peers. He has also done Soft Robotics undergraduate research under the Bioengineering department with Dr. Holly Golecki, partnered with Harvard University. Post-graduation this May, Cornell plans to return to The University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign to pursue his MS in Electrical Engineering. Cornell will be enjoying a semiconductor-focused internship with IBM, which is linked to his GEM fellowship that he acquired for graduate school. Cornell is a known believer in Jesus Christ and thanks God for all that he has been blessed with, including this prestigious opportunity.
