Saaniya Kapur

Saaniya Kapur is a computer engineering student and the recipient of the Stanley H. Pierce Student Award. 

She is involved in the student organization Women in Electrical and Computer Engineering and helped organize Women in Tech Day, an event that connects women in STEM at the university and in the local Champaign-Urbana community. She helped with this year’s Lean In session which encourages a community conversation. This year’s session focused on the topic of Gender Bias. Saaniaya contributed by facilitating the conversation among faculty and students.  

Saaniya has made a strong impression on the faculty she has worked with and is known as a hardworking, helpful student who has a great relationship with students and faculty.
