Mr. Campbell joined TRW in 1954 and within five years was named vice president and general manager of TRW Semiconductors. In this capacity Mr. Campbell is responsible for managing TRW Electronics which employs over 17,000 people with manufacturing facilities in seven countries and marketing services in forty countries. Although his contributions to engineering have included work as a development engineer (four patents have been issued for his work from 1950-60), his principal contribution has been in providing a corporate environment which recognizes that an understanding of engineering is as important in building marketing and service capabilities as it is in the manufacturing function of a high-technology company such as TRW.
