Jon Coonley

Jon Coonley is a senior in Mechanical Science and Engineering (MechSE).
Jon is currently the Vice President of Technical Affairs for the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME), where he works to support technical operations of the group and run
workshops for students to further develop engineering skills. He also works at the Center for Academic Resources in Engineering (CARE) as a drop in tutor to help students succeed
academically.
Previously, Jon was the ASME Special Projects Co-Director, leading teams through five Engineering Open House exhibits. While working in CARE, he facilitated the PHYS 211 section of
the Peer Led Tutoring (PLT) Program for three consecutive semesters. Additionally, he spent his junior year as an undergraduate research assistant working in Dr. Jie Feng’s Fluids, Interfaces,
and Transport (FIT) Lab studying microfluidics.
Upon graduation, Jon will be starting his career at global engineering firm Sargent & Lundy, specifically focused in the analysis of nuclear power systems. He has a deep passion for fluid
mechanics and dynamic systems, and is excited to apply it to the interesting field of energy systems and conversion. He has past experience as an engineering intern at energy design firm Perma-Pipe International Holdings.
