My name is Leah Courtney and I’m a senior studying Civil and Environmental Engineering witha minor in Spanish. Within CEE, my primary area of study is Water Resources Engineering witha secondary in Environmental Engineering.
I am currently the President of the Society of Women Engineers after serving as an OutreachCo-Director. Some of my other involvement on campus includes being a Women in Engineering ambassador, a Student Coordinator for WIE Orientation, a CEE Student Ambassador, anundergraduate research assistant, and a member of Chi Epsilon Honor Society.
I’ve also worked for the Grainger First-Year Experience program as an Engineering Learning Assistant for the Civil and Environmental Engineering Department and a GFX Scholars class. Last semester, I continued my growth within the program as a Lead Engineering LearningAssistant for ENG 100. Being involved with GFX has provided me with the opportunity to travelinternationally to Costa Rica, as a GFX Scholar, and Italy, as a Lead ELA.
Last summer, I interned at Burns & McDonnell in their Water Global Practice working on startuppump hydraulic calculations for municipalities. I will return this summer to work at Burns &McDonnell full-time as an Assistant Civil Engineer.
