Emily Williams is a senior in Aerospace Engineering at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. During her time at the university, she has served as president of Women in Aerospace, president of the Satellite Development Organization, Head Engineering Learning Assistant for the Grainger Engineering First-Year Experience (GFX), and lead tutor for the Center for Academic Resources in Engineering (CARE).
In these roles, she has helped to improve the recruitment and retention rates of women in the department, developed and instructed a technical elective course for undergraduates, revamped the ENG 100 curriculum and managed pre-engagement activities for the incoming freshman class, and organized college-wide tutoring efforts for introductory engineering courses. She has also been involved as an undergraduate researcher in the Numerics and Unsteady Flows Group and the Center for Hypersonics and Entry Systems Studies.
She has interned at GE Aviation and the Boeing Company in product operations and design automation for space electronics. That has been more than enough time in industry for her, and she is beginning her PhD in Fall 2021.
