Dr. Nevins became professor and head of the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Kansas State University in 1957. He received international recognition for his work in environmental engineering, and in 1962, he assumed the directorship of the endowed K.S.U. Institute of Environmental Research. In his specialty he has been engaged as a consultant to industry and agencies of the federal government. In 1967 he was appointed Dean of the College of Engineering at Kansas State University. He has authored numerous publications and has served in many public and professional offices with the American Society of Mechanical Engineers, American Society for Engineering Education, Engineers' Council for Professional Development, American Society of Heating, Refrigerating, and Air Conditioning Engineers, National Society of Professional Engineers, and others.
