Amanda Batista is a senior majoring in chemical engineering with a minor in the Hoeft Technology and Management (T&M) Program.

Amanda Batista has dedicated herself to a variety of organizations on campus over the years. She started her college journey joining the Society of Women Engineers (SWE) and has been heavily involved with this RSO ever since. She is now serving as the Internal Vice President of SWE for the second year in a row. This school year, Amanda helped co-found a new affinity group within SWE, called HeforSWE, that aims to increase male allyship in STEM. Additionally, she wanted to give back to the Grainger Engineering community by instructing a section of ENG 100 for undeclared freshman during her junior year. She later served as the Lead Engineering Learning Assistant for Undeclared Engineering during her senior year. Amanda Batista has also been working as the Student Program Coordinator for the T&M Program for two years now, planning co-curricular events for all of the T&M students. She is also an active member of the professional engineering fraternity, Theta Tau.

Aside from her involvement in student organizations, Amanda Batista has also professionally developed herself through internships throughout the years. She worked as an engineering intern in the operations and maintenance department at WEC Energy Group in Chicago during the summer after her sophomore year. The following summer she continued her interest in energy and interned for bp as an upstream wells engineer intern. Amanda will be continuing her career at bp this summer as she starts her full-time position as an upstream wells engineer!

In her free time, Amanda loves to paint, upcycle clothes, and travel. She takes any opportunity to spend time outdoors and hike.

Amanda Batista would also like to give the biggest thanks to everyone that has cared for and supported her to achieve her goals. Honorable mention to her parents, siblings, and best friends that have carried her along the way.
