Dr. Rosenblueth is internationally known for his research contributions in earthquake engineering. He has held many academic and research appointments and has been director or president of various consulting engineering firms in Mexico, firms that have played a significant role in the design and construction of earthquake-resistant structures in Central and South America. He is a prolific author of articles in journals, chapters in books, and is co-author with N.M. Newmark of the leading international textbook in earthquake engineering, Fundamentals of Earthquake Engineering.

He has won a number of awards including the National Science Prize of Mexico, 1974, the Louis Elizondo Science Prize, 1973, the L. Moisseiff Award, ASCE, 1966, and the ASCE W. L. Huber Research Prize, 1965. He received the Science Award from the Academy of Scientific Research in Mexico, 1963, and an honorary degree of Professor Honoris Causa, National University of Engineering, Peru, 1964. He is a foreign associate of the U.S. National Academy of Sciences and is currently president of the International Association for Earthquake Engineering. He is one of the leading engineers and scientists in the Western Hemisphere.
