A computer systems specialist, E. David Crockett designed and developed the first acoustical coupled modem for data communications. At Hewlett-Packard, he was a pioneer in hardware and software development and in the principles and techniques for computer system performance evaluation. He managed the revitalization of the HP3000 and HP2000 computers, and managed the development, manufacturing, and marketing of the HP300 product line, Hewlett-Packard’s first entry in dedicated business date processing applications. A lecturer at Stanford University, Crockett has authored many technical publications and given invited presentations on computers and higher education. He was also involved in the revitalization and expansion of computer engineering laboratories at UIUC through an extensive equipment grant program, directly funded research, and technical information exchanges while with Hewlett-Packard. He is now a partner in 3i Ventures, an international venture capital firm.
