Course Description
This course covers the fundamental aspects of hypersonic flows and aerothermodynamics of high-speed vehicles. Topics include an introduction to hypersonic systems (space planes, missiles, air-breathers, etc.); the description of the hypersonic environment; inviscid hypersonic flows; hypersonic laminar boundary layers; basic aspects of high-temperature gas dynamics and thermochemical nonequilibrium flows; an introduction to advanced experimental testing and modeling in hypersonics.
