Our land grant mission
Here in The Grainger College of Engineering, we take our role as a public university seriously. We offer a variety of engagement opportunities for students of all ages to help them with STEM and spark their interest.
The Worldwide Youth in Science and Engineering Program (WYSE) is a program which introduces interested and diverse pre-college students to Illinois students for exploring engineering and the sciences through hands-on, minds-on activities.
I-STEM works with internal and external partners to evaluate STEM education programs, provide news coverage of STEM initiatives and events, facilitate the development of education and outreach programs, and help develop policies in Illinois and the nation that promote STEM education.
Illinois Engineering Ambassadors is an outreach program sponsored by the Office of Undergraduate Programs in The Grainger College of Engineering. The ambassadors serve as role models in engineering to younger students who are underrepresented and underserved in engineering fields. They seek to change the conversation about what it means to be an engineer by focusing on how engineers are positively impacting the health, happiness, and safety of our world.
